The main components of an excavator include the chassis, hydraulic boom, arm, bucket, diesel engine, and hydraulic system, made from high-strength alloy steel and cast iron to withstand operational weights up to 30 tons and pressures above 200 bar. Hydraulic boom lengths typically range from 4 to 7 meters, with bucket capacities from 0.5 to 3.5 cubic meters. The chassis and undercarriage, with 20 to 40 millimeter thickness, and steel tracks 450 to 700 millimeters wide, are designed to resist tensile forces up to 250 kN.

The diesel engine delivers 120 to 450 horsepower with cylinder capacities of 4 to 15 liters. Hydraulic cylinders for the arm and bucket are made from forged steel, with NBR or FKM seals preventing dust and water ingress. All components undergo non-destructive testing NDT including ultrasonic and magnetic inspections and dimensional checks up to 0.1 millimeters to ensure service life exceeding 15,000 hours.
