The main components of Margo engines include the cylinder block, pistons, crankshaft, connecting rods, and cylinder head, made from alloy steel and ductile cast iron with heat treatment to withstand temperatures up to 130°C and internal pressures up to 16 bar. Cylinder diameters typically range from 85 to 140 millimeters, piston strokes from 100 to 170 millimeters, and Margo engines are designed with 1 to 8 cylinders. The crankshaft undergoes precision balancing and surface hardening, supporting torque up to 900 Nm, while forged steel connecting rods measure 150 to 320 millimeters in length.
The cylinder head contains intake and exhaust valves, water and oil channels, and valve seats, machined to surface tolerances below 0.02 millimeters. Bearings withstand temperatures up to 130°C and oil pressures from 4 to 7 bar. All components undergo non-destructive testing NDT, including ultrasonic and magnetic inspections, ensuring engine service life exceeds 15,000 hours and continuous operation in industrial environments.
