The main components of Komatsu engines include the cylinder block, pistons, crankshaft, connecting rods, and cylinder head, manufactured from high-hardness alloy steel and aluminum to withstand mechanical and thermal stress up to 120°C. Cylinder diameters range from 90 to 145 millimeters, piston strokes from 110 to 190 millimeters, and engine displacement ranges from 3 to 18 liters. The crankshaft is heat-treated and precisely balanced, supporting torque up to 1400 Nm, while forged steel connecting rods measure 140 to 340 millimeters in length.
The cylinder head contains intake and exhaust valves, water and oil passages, and valve seats, machined to surface tolerances below 0.01 millimeters. The lubrication system operates at 4 to 7 bar, and bearings withstand temperatures up to 120°C. All components undergo non-destructive testing NDT, including ultrasonic and magnetic inspections, ensuring engine service life exceeds 18,000 hours.
