G80 carbon steel chain

The dry G80 chain is one of the popular steel grades that is produced with a medium carbon percentage, but with the use of a precise heat treatment, its mechanical characteristics have been increased. In the heat treatment process, the internal steel crystals of the G80 chain are homogenized, which have a higher continuity and, as a result, have a higher wear and tensile resistance in lifting loads. Carbon steel chain is produced with a medium percentage of carbon and the thermal process of hardening is used in order to make the steel crystals uniform, and during the cooling and heating process in several stages, the two mechanical factors of tensile and surface hardness are increased in it.
The Carbon steel chain is known as G80 grade, which is mainly used in carrying cargo with roof racks or as a chain sling. TYPES OF CHAIN GRADES
Industrial chains consist of linked segments of durable metal, such as stainless steel, galvanized steel, and brass. They are available in a wide range of sizes and strengths to lift and transport materials across a diverse set of applications.

The tensile strength of the base material—i.e., the ultimate breaking strength—determines the rating and grade given to the particular chain. The greater the breaking strength, the higher the grade, and vice versa. The grade indicated for a chain helps industry professionals identify the types of applications for which it is appropriate. For example, the strength of galvanized chains relies on the amount of carbon present in the metal as grade 30 chain has less carbon, it is weaker than grade 40 chain and suitable for service duty applications rather than heavy-duty applications.

Dry G80 chain, which has a high percentage of 97% iron in its alloy composition, is one of the most widely used grades of steel chain. This grade is produced from steel chain with medium carbon percentage, but its mechanical characteristics have been improved by performing a precise heat treatment. This heat hardening process causes higher continuity and, as a result, higher abrasion and tensile resistance in the chain steel crystals. The most commonly used size of this grade of chains is 6 mm to 24 mm, which is used in the manufacture of chain slings and also lifting connections. G80 grade chain must be produced and manufactured according to DIN 818 standard. G80 grade chain is available in polished type, black steel color, hot galvanized, cold galvanized, PVC coated, or plastic, etc. The lowest safety factor f:s of G80 chain should be 4 times its SWL and its Proof Test is 2.5 times SWL.
