Anchor chains are manufactured from marine-grade alloy steel grades U2, U3, and R3 490–770 N/mm² tensile strength. Standard bar diameters range from 12 to 150 mm with a pitch length of 6 times the bar diameter. Minimum breaking force varies from 350 to 12,500 kN depending on grade and diameter. Proof test force is applied at 70% of the minimum breaking force per ISO 1704 standards. These chains undergo normalization and tempering processes to reduce residual stresses and enhance toughness. Each chain link is subjected to magnetic particle inspection MPI before assembly.

The chain structure features resistance welded links with full circumferential flash butt welding. Links are of the marine elongated oval stud link type, with a central stud to prevent deformation under tension. All surfaces are coated with hot-dip galvanizing 85–120 microns or marine-grade epoxy coating. Special fittings include end links, joining links, and swivels, forged from steel with strength matching the chain. These chains are designed for operating temperatures from –20°C to +40°C in saltwater and corrosive marine environments.
