The exhaust system of the Caterpillar 988F loader is constructed from industrial-grade stainless steel alloyed with chromium and nickel to ensure high resistance to heat and corrosion. The system consists of a dual exhaust manifold, large-diameter mid-pipe, multi-stage silencer, and a 45-degree vertical outlet. The internal pipe diameter ranges from 95 to 115 millimeters, with a wall thickness of approximately 2.3 millimeters. The silencer’s multilayer ceramic fiber structure reduces engine noise by up to 43 decibels. All joints are TIG and MIG welded to eliminate gas leakage and extend service life.
In the Caterpillar 988F loader exhaust system, gas flow is optimized so that pressure loss remains below 9 percent of engine output. The silicone-based thermal coating resists oxidation and discoloration at temperatures up to 950 degrees Celsius. The total exhaust system weight ranges between 26 and 32 kilograms, allowing for direct installation on the loader chassis. A triple-layer thermal insulator in the central section prevents heat transfer to the air filter and fuel delivery system, enhancing operational safety and reliability.
