The exhaust system of the Caterpillar 14G grader is constructed from grade 304 stainless steel alloyed with nickel and chromium to ensure high resistance to heat and corrosion. The system includes an exhaust manifold, mid-pipe, multi-stage silencer, and a 45-degree curved vertical outlet. The internal pipe diameter ranges from 70 to 85 millimeters, with a wall thickness of approximately 1.8 millimeters. The silencer’s multilayer structure with ceramic fiber insulation reduces engine noise by up to 40 decibels. All joints are TIG welded to prevent gas leakage and enhance mechanical durability.
In the design of the Caterpillar 14G grader exhaust, gas flow is optimized so that back pressure remains below 7 percent of engine power. The high-temperature resistant surface coating withstands up to 900 degrees Celsius, preventing oxidation and metal discoloration. The total system weight is approximately 16 to 20 kilograms and allows direct installation on the main chassis. A dual-layer thermal insulator in the central section prevents heat transfer to the operator’s cabin and fuel system, improving safety and operational reliability.
