Caterpillar 966D Loader Exhaust
The exhaust system of the Caterpillar 966D loader is made of high-temperature and corrosion-resistant steel, with a total length of 3.9 meters. The inner pipe diameter is 265 millimeters and the wall thickness is 5.5 millimeters, capable of withstanding exhaust gas temperatures up to 760 degrees Celsius. Its internal design features multi-stage chambers to reduce noise and optimize gas flow. Connections use standard SAE flanges with heat-resistant gaskets, providing resistance to vibrations exceeding 1050 Newton-meters. Anti-rust coating and heat-resistant paint extend the exhaust’s service life to over 7,200 operating hours, ensuring full compatibility with the 966D diesel engine.
The thermal and acoustic performance of the 966D exhaust complies with EPA and ISO standards, with a pressure drop along the path of less than 23 kilopascals. The internal structure includes a turbulent flow network to reduce particulate matter and direct exhaust gases toward the rear exit. The total weight of the exhaust without auxiliary components is approximately 165 kilograms, installed using two M14 bolts and four M12 bolts. Its modular design allows replacement of damaged sections without removing the entire assembly, improving exhaust efficiency by up to 94 percent.
