Carbon steel master link

Steel wire rope slings are constructed from high-strength alloy steel wires grade 1970 or 2160 N/mm². Sling diameters range from 6 to 100 mm with standard lengths of 1 to 12 meters. Minimum Breaking Load MBL ranges from 2 to 300 tons depending on diameter and construction. Working Load Limit WLL is determined with a 5:1 safety factor for heavy-duty operations. Flexibility is ensured with a minimum bending radius of 3 times the sling diameter. These slings undergo tensile testing up to 80% of breaking load to verify structural integrity.

The construction uses a 6x36 design with an Independent Wire Rope Core IWRC for crush resistance. End fittings are forged steel with a hardness of 40-45 HRC Rockwell C. Socket connections use zinc-copper alloy with joint strength exceeding 95% of rope strength. Surface coating is galvanized or epoxy with 60-80 micron thickness for corrosion protection. Allowable operating temperature ranges from -40°C to 120°C without mechanical degradation. Products are certified and marked according to ISO 8794 and EN 13414-1 international standards.

Crosby thimbles are manufactured from hardened forged carbon steel, grade 1035 or 1045. Their surface hardness ranges from 45 to 50 HRC for wear resistance. Inner diameters of these thimbles vary from 6 to 50 mm with a dimensional tolerance of ±0.5 mm. The throat thickness is designed between 3 to 20 mm depending on size. Safe Working Load WLL ranges from 0.5 to 30 tons with a 4:1 safety factor. These thimbles undergo ultrasonic non-destructive testing NDT to detect hidden defects.

The thimble structure features an external groove with a defined radius to accommodate the wire rope. The groove opening angle is typically 120 degrees for easy wire rope insertion. The inner surface of the groove is precision machined to a surface quality of Ra 6.3 microns. They are often hot-dip galvanized with an 85-micron coating for corrosion resistance. Unit weight ranges from 0.1 to 8 kg depending on dimensions. They are classified according to DIN 6899 or ISO 7597 standards for steel fittings.
