PAKAT grinding and cutting wheels are made from aluminum oxide Al₂O₃ abrasive grains with 95% purity. The abrasive grain size varies between 24 and 220 grit equivalent to 700 to 53 microns. Their hardness on the Mohs scale is 9. The bond used is typically a vitrified ceramic type fired at 1200 degrees Celsius. The wheel structure features controlled porosity of 15 to 25% by volume. The maximum permitted operating speed on standard machines is 80 meters per second. Standard wheel diameters range from 100 to 350 mm with thicknesses of 3 to 10 mm. The central bore has an H11 dimensional tolerance. These wheels are designed for cutting and grinding non-alloy steels and cast iron.
