These grains are bonded using phenolic resin with epoxy base, heat-resistant to 150°C. Standard disc diameters range from 75 mm to 250 mm. The maximum permissible speed is 3000 RPM for a 100 mm disc. This tool is suitable for polishing curved surfaces with a minimum 3 mm radius.

Its multi-layer structure comprises 80 to 120 rectangular flap pieces. These pieces are arranged at a 15-degree angle relative to the central axis. Inter-layer adhesion is ensured by metal fasteners with 50 N tensile strength. This design provides an effective friction coefficient of 0.7 to 0.9. Flap discs are available in four grit sizes from 40 coarse to 220 fine. The tool achieves a material removal rate of 0.1 to 0.5 grams per second.
