flame detector

To understand the concept of a flame detector, its important to know that the flame sensor is one of the essential components used in the heating industry and in gas, diesel, and other similar heating systems. In fact, flame detector photocells are a distinct component that can be installed on devices such as burners, and their presence significantly impacts the overall performance of the system in which they are used. Flame sensors come in various brands and types, each differing in specifications, functionality, and ultimately, price in the market.

The electronic eye, or photocell, is installed inside the burner in a position that allows it to view the interior of the boiler. Inside the photocell, semiconductors are used due to their conductive properties and ability to carry electrical current.

The flame detector — also known as a flame sensor, photoelectric cell, electronic eye, or phototube — is a light-sensitive sensor that generates voltage in response to radiation received on its surface. This voltage can then be used to trigger a relay to either open or close an electrical circuit.
