G80 carbon steel chain is actually an alloy of steel chain. The dry chain uses at least 98% iron element with an average percentage of carbon in its alloy composition. Before the production of G80 dry chain, the used wires are hardened by forging method to have high mechanical characteristics and ideal resistance against tensile and abrasion stresses.
Dry chains are produced both in millimeter sizes according to the German DIN standard and in inch sizes according to the American ASTM standard. G80 dry chain has a tensile strength of 550 newtons per square millimeter N/mm2, which means that it can suspend 55 kg of load per square millimeter of the cross-sectional area at the complete tear stage.
