U Bolt

The U bolt features a 180-degree bend with two parallel threaded legs at both ends. The inner bend radius is calculated based on the target pipe or rod diameter. The center-to-center distance between the two legs ranges from 25 to 300 millimeters depending on the application. Leg length from the bend to the thread end varies between 50 and 500 millimeters. The nominal diameter of U bolts ranges from M6 to M36 according to standard manufacturing specifications. Dimensional standards specify exact values for bend radius, center distance, leg length, and thread pitch. Tolerances for bend accuracy and leg parallelism are controlled under precision class C requirements. Thread specifications follow standard metric profiles with coarse or fine pitch options.

U bolts are manufactured from carbon steel with property classes 4.6, 5.6, or 8.8 depending on load requirements. Alloy steel grades 1045 or 4140 are used for class 8.8 with hardening and tempering heat treatment. Final hardness of the component is adjusted between 25 to 32 Rockwell C for class 8.8 applications. Hot-dip galvanized coating with 40 to 80 microns thickness is suitable for outdoor and humid environments. Electro-galvanized coating with 8 to 12 microns thickness is recommended for indoor and dry applications. Stainless steel grades 304 and 316 are produced for corrosive, acidic, and marine environments without additional coating. Companion nuts for U bolts are manufactured from the same property class with flat and spring washers to prevent self-loosening.
